Hi, I’m Subhra Mohanty.
My life transformed just when I believed I had settled.
A great career, a loving family, a beautiful baby you couldn’t have asked for more.
And then it struck…
With the greatest blessing came what I once claimed to be the greatest curse. Motherhood brought me face to face with the unfavourable side of corporate life. When a woman’s proven abilities are suddenly questioned because patriarchy doesn’t approve of a woman’s reproductive rights. And then all it took was a belief I nurtured and fed that pushed me to the corner. A state of self-doubt, skepticism, depression and an utter sense of disgust in oneself. And then I progressively moved towards the worse. I started hiding wrapped under the cover of justification. Motherhood does this to everybody, I am lucky I can now spend more time with my child, I deserved this break, I started looking for similar company and I even found great names for my new venture “Sabbatical Parent” and “Mom by Choice”. Never did I realize I was lying to myself all the way for temporary gratification.
Get over it.
Have you ever seen yourself with disgust? Have you ever felt like losing it? Have you surrendered? Well, that was me. One morning I looked into the eyes of my blessing and as she held my hands and tried to take her first steps and those angel eyes which were beaming with confidence & trust that I had her back, as she waddled.Something struck me. I needed to live upto that unconditional trust and confidence.I new deep within that I could do much better and I could be her icon.What if I just kept this belief on! And trust me nothing stopped me after that. I did something which wouldn’t have required any training or coaching.
I started believing ‘not to believe’...
Not to believe I couldn’t. Not to believe my career was over because I was a mother. Not to believe I was incapable. Not to believe I was a failure. Not to believe I could never be her ideal. Not to believe I was happy with what I had.
I stopped believing in I couldn’t to start believing in what I could.
I started believing that this crisis is actually an opportunity.I immediately started feeling better.New avenues opened up.This is the best time I can live my long cherished dream of contributing to the greater good and I decided to use my public speaking skills to inspire, share, help and contribute towards healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.
If I can do it, you can do it too.
There was one belief that held me back & then there was another which helped me break free from my older perception of me.
Age, circumstance, liability, obligations are mere misapprehensions of the mind. Do you think adversities do profiling and then strike. No…sure they don’t!

Recent research has given a renewed and positive view of the human brain constantly rewiring and changing in response to stimulations and experience. Brain growth is no longer limited to childhood. Research in the fields of neuroplasticity and neurogenesis have evidence of this. Neurogenesis is the brain's ability to create new neurons and connections between neurons throughout a lifetime. Human brains keep creating new neural pathways.
Choose what you want to believe and let your senses help you pick up the stimuli (experiences, information) from the environment that allow your brain’s receptors to catch them and form new grooves. It’s about changing your old believes and getting them evicted by constantly feeding your brain with new patterns. Help yourself with the right set of beliefs and you will see a significant change in your behaviour and actions.
